Hi there
Please Help.. i dont play much games and after finally deciding to try out one, it wont work.
I just bought a new computer and installed a game. It installed OK but when i tried to open it, it said "cannot allocate memory" and closed. I phoned microsoft and they said that either i should increase my virtual memory or manually decrease sound and graphics settings on the game.
For the first option, he gave me the link www.support.microsoft.com/kb/837869 which suggests i go onto Performance and Maintenance in control panel. I dont have this icon in my control panel...
WRT the second option, ie manually decrease settings, how do i do this?
Thanks a lot for any help....!

Why would you call Microsoft? It's not their problem.

The system requirements for BF2 are probably printed on the side of the box. If you PC doesn't meet the requirements, the game won't play...it's as simple as that.

Here's the requirements from the EA website:

"SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

* Windows XP (32-bit) with Admin rights
* 1.7 GHz Intel Celeron D / Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/ Sempron or greater
* 512 MB of RAM or more
* 8x or faster CD/DVD drive
* 2.3 GB free hard drive space or more
* Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (see video)
* Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible (Sound Blaster X-Fi series recommended )

VIDEO

Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:
* NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
* ATI Radeon 8500 or greater"

My guess is you bought an OEM system (eMachines, HP, Dell, etc) that uses integrated graphics...if that's the case, you'll need to buy & install a *real* video card.
