Anyone who Pre-Orders a PS3 is dumb. Things are going to be buggy and are going to have to be fixed. But people buy them anyways knowing that that is going to happen. I wait a full year until I get a system. But with DirectX10 coming out, I think I am just going to stick with my computer.
Are you sure that $499 is the final price? and is that with or without the HDD?

I very nearly ordered one from play.com and then thought to myself....
If i spent the £650 upgrading my pc further it would leave theh ps3 standing still :D
so that is what i intend to do . Have fun on your ps3 though :)

It's $499 with the 20gig HD and $599 for the 60gig. Also, the $499 version wont come with all the digital outputs that the $599 does. The $499 is a very dumbed down version of the PS3 that can NOT be upgraded unlike the 360.
I think it's a waste with DX10 coming out. Microsfot and Sony should have both waited untill then. I think the next gen machines came out too early.

I agree with you cyberlantz, reason behind playstation 3 price is that sony spend alot more then mircosoft on the processor. i read this info on wiki

Hmm, IF I could afford a HD plasma screen then it might make sense, if only for the blu-ray HD playback. I still think Sony will be ok, I mean, no-one in Japan has even heard of the 360!

Its most likely because of how difficult it is to deliver down there or something..
I will probably not buy ANY next gen consoles. Over-priced.. way too over-priced.
Im gonna spend my hard worked money into a upgraded computer.
And if i have 300 dollars left.. i might buy a WII with a couple of games.
