Hi Guys i need to know that how many things can i run on dual core processor (INTEL PENTIUM D Series) at same time?

15 instances of notepad
Email client
23 web browser windows (one with chuck norris jokes)
Itunes
Nero
2 virtual machines
AOL
MSN Messenger
and solitaire."How many squirrels had to die to make you look fly?!"

or
5000 instances of notepad,
no seriously, think about it, twice as many as you can on a single core (well, never in theory, but close enough)

It handles a tone of fun! I have one too, and it's amazing for what it dose for me. I can listen to music while editing a home movie and doing other miscellaneous things at the same time. Do you have one, or thinking on getting one? I say get it, 'cuz it really helps if you have to multitask.
I is a sad sack of a being...

"I can listen to music while editing a home movie"
I was doing that with a Pentium III ages ago. :P
Anyway, the biggest advantage of dual core (imho) is being able to play a game while waiting for divx to convert a DVD.

As many as you want until you are out of RAM and page files...
TMP-Man
Asus P5P800-SE PAT
P4 506 @ 4009Mhz 1.3625v
Thermaltake CLP0024 w/ 1700RPM 92MM + AS5
2GB OCZ 2-3-2-5 DDR400
120GB/300GB 7200RPM HD
Leadtek 7600GT 600/1550 VF700 ALCU AS5

Yeah, but.. it is only the CPU. I'd hate to think what would happen in Oblivion if I was killing the harddrive and ram doing a DivX..
I think RAID + dual core would potentially be a lot faster,
as long as you had a decent mobo as well

"I think RAID + dual core would potentially be a lot faster,
as long as you had a decent mobo as well"You don't have to have RAID to increase performance. Simply adding a second hard drive, and making sure the burden of the two demanding tasks each fell to different drives would be fine. In fact, this would probably prove to be faster than RAID in the given scenario.

Hmm, yes, if you could get a DivX encoder to use one HDD and a game to use another, I'm sure the bandwidth of SATA is far greater than either drive can actually operate at.. might give that a whirl!

Now...slamming your system RAM, that's another story. :-)

Actually, I'm not getting much of a performance hit. The drive activity light doesn't flicker as much as you'd think while divx is working.

To add to the above, the HD activity light flickers only once every 3 seconds to be exact.
I'm running divx while typing this message. :P
