(2 Disc Drives and a 100GB SATA HD)OK. This is realy making me very mad. I have played several games with no problems over the past few months. Therefore it is to late to take the graphics card back should it be defective.
Now though, I try out LOTR: The Battle For Middle Earth and I can get in game and sometimes I can't. The game just freezes with the sound frozen to and then the computer just restarts. I turned off automatic restart and this is what I got:
Stop: 0x0000008E
nv4_disp.dll - Address BFAACBC8 AT BF9D4000, DATESTAMP 4410C8D4
There was also something about nv4_disp.dll being caught in an "infinite loop".This is what I pulled from the Event Viewer:

Description:
The driver nv4_disp for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.I have tryed using the drivers that came with the card on the CD. I am currently using the latest Nvidia drivers and the same thing. I had noticed in the begining these little artifacts in menus that looked like little black or white dashes (never experienced in game or movies just in menu panes like for installation software). I asked around and I was told that others were experiencing the same thing and that it would probably be fixed in the next drivers or just that it was most likely a driver issue. The new drivers did not fix the issue and I need to know what to do.
Thanks in advance for any help if it is at all possible.

The 6200 PCI is not a good gaming card...although it has 256MB, it only uses a 64-bit memory interface. You may simply be expecting too much from it. The "little artifacts in menus that looked like little black or white dashes" could indicate overheating, but it may also be an incorrect BIOS setting.

The nv4_disp.dll error is usually caused by a driver problem. I suggest you completely uninstall the current driver using Control Panel > Add/Remove, then run "Driver Cleaner Pro Free" to remove all traces.

Once that's done, install the following drivers making sure that you follow the installation hints:

Yeah, you have to be real careful when you're buying an nVidia card, because the numbers mean pretty much nothing. I remember buying an old MX440 and being absolutely disappointed when it was nowhere near as good a performer as the Ti.
The worst bit is their 7 series now. They have 7300s and 7600s and many of them with ridiculous amounts of redundant video memory, and to the casual buyer the higher the number the better the product. It would be nice if they had a sequential number system that actually made sense performance-wise. I know they vaguely use the same architecture but it sure is misleading.

The 6200 is a power hog you have to have at least a 450W power Supply to use it to it's full potential. I was having Similar problems with games crashing and freezing up the system. I installed a 600W p/s and have had no further problems.

Wait a minute! He said this is a PCI card, but I just looked up his board specs & it's probably PCI-Express. Regardless, it's still a very low end card & is/was a poor choice for gaming.

I have done as recomended for cleaning out the drivers and reinstalling them already many, many times and no help. I have also loaded Optimised Settings in the bios.
I chose this card because YES it is a PCI and not PCI-E card. My Mobo is PCI and PCI-E only and I needed a good PCI card to tide me over until I can afford a PCI-E card.
I own a BFG Nvidia OC 256MB GeForce 6800 GT AGP for my other desktop and have never had an issue. It also performs very, very well. Every game I have ever played has always been on top settings and played top notch (taking in to consideration all of my other hardware specs).
I figured that the 256MB 6200 PCI card would perform at a lower level but still give me somewhat what I need. At least be able to play the games on a lower settings level but still look ok. I play Unreal 2004 and World of Warcraft at Max setting with no issues. I also play Age of Empires 3 at Mid-High settings with no issues.
I have also owned a MX440, a FX 5200 and a FX 5700 LE in the past and have never run into this type of issue.
There is also a spot on my Mobo where I have a power plug plugged into (from the PSU) that is suppose to be for the add in Graphics Cards.
Should I unplug this? Is that what could be overheating the card? Is that power slot designed for PCI-E and could be affecting the PCI card?

If you bought a brand new 6200 PCI, you wasted your money. You could have gotten an X550 128MB/128-bit PCI-E card for about $50. Granted, it's low end PCI-E, but it would kick the crap out of the 6200 PCI.
" I have also loaded Optimised Settings in the bios"
NO good. BIOS settings are supposed to be custom configured to match your hardware. Fail-Safe defaults or Optimized defaults are only there to get you started.

I was told at DriverHQ that this card is fairly new and that the artifact problem was most likely a driver issue and to hold out for a driver release that supports the card more fully.
If you think that there is nothing else I can do and really believe this card is not worth dealing with then please recommend something better. If you could, for now I would be able to afford something 150-200 or lower. As I stated before I am not trying to blow a large chunk of money on a card right now because eventually I would like to invest in a higher end PCI-E. I do though need something to be able to run games on a fairly acceptable level.
I am partial to Nvidia and my last four cards were BFG made. I like the fact that they are pre OC and for the same price as others besides the fact that I have never had problems with them. If you could recommend a few from different price ranges that would be great.
Thank you everyone, I kinda had my suspicions when after all this time a high end PCI card pops up. I knew it was too good to be true I guess I am out the money I payed for this one.

I save my nvidia driver install program in c:\Temp so i can install it again if somthing goes wrong but every things fine.

You might want to check your sound card driver and update it to the newest, i had a problem similar to yours and did some research and found someone else who had the same problem, turned out the driver was buggy for that card, i have the soundblaster audigy card and after i downloaded and installed the latest driver, the problem went away.
Just a thought.
