patch error !!! help

Specs: Windows XP

hi guys, i downloaded a full version of tom clancy's rainbow six 3 raven shield
and in the first mission,when i climb the ladder an bug error came up so i search
in ph.answer.yahoo.com and they said i need a patch so i downloaded a patch
an an error came up and said

""old file not found.however,a file the same name was found.
no update found since the file did not match"

can anybody help cause i really love this game

You maybe downloaded an unofficial, modified or cracked version of the game. Patches often won't install on those. You need to buy a legal copy of the game.
