I have a Hp pavilion a1000n and it has a celeron d 340 and when play like countersktrike and cod2 the cpu fan spins fast and then it stops and then eventually it will overheat and shut down. The mobo is p4gv-la also known as the guppy. Has there been any recalls or defects i should know about

Hey stiguy99 -- a friend of mine has same 'puter with same problem. The heatsink was so poorly installed that it wasn't making good contact with the CPU. There was a thick layer of thermal grease & the whole thing was just ugly. When we tried to remove the heatsink, it actually pulled the CPU out with it despite the socket lever being locked.
HP's support has been totally USELESS in dealing with this. Anyhow, thought you would be interested to know...
