Recently i started playing Battlefield 2, my vid card is a radeon 9800, after playing for about 30min-1hr, when i look in certain directions, the screen looks like broken glass thats like a darkblue/black color, i cant see anything, but if i turn i can see fine, after this the computer 80% of the time restarts within 10min. It sounds like overheating to me, but a) the card isnt overclocked, everything is like it was from the factory; b)after aiming a fan on the card, the memory on it barely feels hot to the touch, it could be under the heatsinc/fan that is getting hot but i dont know. Any ideas as to what should be done?
if i were to buy an aftermarket heatsinc/fan what is a good option for this card? and would that help?
thanks

when i say if i turn i can see fine i mean in certain directions it wont do it, it doesnt seem to be biased on the direction that has the most action going on.. which is wierd, some directions do it and some look normal

try updating the graphics card drivers. If you don't already have it, get DirectX9. If you think it is overheating, put the side of the case directly beside an AC air vent if you can. It doesn't sound like heat though. Try tuning the video settings down a bit in the game. Turn off all anti-aliasing, Anistropic filtering turn resolution down to 800x600 and turn other things down and see if it still does it. Also, turn any extra graphics options off. After that, if it works, keep turning things up until it does it again and whatever you did before it messed up is your problem. I remeber a game I had that did something similar if I had a certain graphics setting turned on. Hope this helps.
