does any one know a way i can legaly aquire old computer games like doom, ultima, sim city 2000, quake I (the best version)? also would it be necissary to buy an old computer because some of these games ran in dos?

Still for sale
If you're running ME, then you're "running on DOS" as well, but older games may not be compatible with more modern software (such as soundcards)
If you own the original DooMs, there are free addons that work in Windows, or else there's the offical "Windows Doom" release (for DooM2)
If you get people asking the wrong questions, you don't have to worry about the answers

I don't know but...
If I'm not mistaken (tell me if I am) many games that aren't for sale anymore turn into some sort of "abandonware" and you can download them freely and legaly. I'm not sure though. However I doubt you're gonna find Doom 1 in a store...
Compatibility is a problem with older games too. Before buying one see if someone has managed to make it run on your operating system.

Car boot sales/garage sales are great for finding old gems, i got a SNES console with two controllers and four games IN PERFECT CONDITION for only a tenner!Magic!

No, not really - the fact that these games are still for sale by the manufacturer should make that fairly obvious. If the original titleholder is no longer in business then the term abandonware would be more applicable (if the copyright did not transfer to anyone else)
Software patents last decades, and while it's not terribly difficult to find old titles online, especially over P2P, this is not exactly legitimate - although I doubt that the software police will come back & bite you on the ass.
For some games (like DooM) the source code has been made public, but that only applies to the game engine (executable) and does not cover the main game file itself which contains the copyrighted levels, artwork and music (and you can't easily play the game without those)
I've found a lot of the older titles in department store bargain bins, for a couple of bucks, but that was some time ago - chances would be slimmer now

That's great - now I won't be up all night wondering

If you're interested in the original DooM series, I bought a cd pack from Wal-mart that contained Doom I, II, and Ultimate Doom, all coded to work in the windows environment; even made to work online multiplayer easily. It cost 9.99 I believe. Old games rock.

there are some great games. Some were realeased commercially. Don't expect to find DOOM or Quake here though, ID software don't do that.
WILL POST FOR FOOD.
