Odd issue after CPU upgrade

Gigabyte Ga-p35-ds3r motherboard

Specs: Win 7, E7500 @ 3.2Ghz / 4GB
A coupe of days ago I upgraded my Power supply and CPU which went smoothly, but today when trying to play a game (Rayman Raving Rabids... Its fun go away!) for some reason it plays in SUPER speed. The animations in the menu zoom by and in game if you tap the walk button you are suddenly on the other side of the room... I dont get why, I tried re-installing the game and I also updated the bios to the latest (Wasnt sure if the current BIOS properly supported the new CPU) and then updated my graphics driver to the newest but it still does the same.. I dont really know what else to try. Any ideas? I wanna play that stupid game!

What about other games? I think p35 recognize e7500 without bios update. I see u are running e7500 @3.2ghz, why did u replace e4500? U can easily oc it to 3ghz. I think the problem isn't the cpu.

Had a similar issue with a game that used to play on my old p3 machine, the same game on my C2D haha super fast and so funny. To fix it here is what i did.

1) Open Task Manager
2) Now open the game up the game (with Task Manager still open)
3) ALT TAB to Task Manager (your game might minimize)
4) Under the 'Processes' Tab look for the games process ad right click it and select 'Set Affinity'
5) When the new form displays you will notice that you have CPU0 and CPU1 ticked/checked. Uncheck CPU1.

This should work, it worked for me when i was playing a game called 'devastation' but i had to do this each time i played, wasnt a big deal i got used to it and then got bored of the game..

Hope this helps...

Good suggestion AWTL but didnt fix it.

kuwese, I upgraded because the E7500 has more cache and can be overclocked even further. My E4500 maxed out with a 333MHz FSB at 3GHz. Even higher FSB's but lower multiplier didnt work. I have the E7500 sitting at 3.2GHz/400MHz just for a start, I havent had a proper go at an O/C yet. I probably could have made a better choice but I figured an E7500 was adequate for my needs untill I upgrade in a year or so to a entirely new system.

But to answer your question, it dosent seem to happen in any other games. With that said though I have hardly any games installed as I have a minty installation of Windows 7 which I havent put everything on yet.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help so far.

If the game used to run fine on e4500 then it's a issue with dual core. Did u upgrade the memory?

Hi,
Have you tried to download the latest drivers for your GPU?

I know Kuwese said that if the game worked with the e4500 then dual core isnt a problem, i have a lot of respect for what he says! but i would suggest trying what i said one more time, but this time, running the game, setting the affinty, CLOSE the game, load again. just curious to see what will happen.

I remember going a google search for "games running too fast" when i had the problem and the majority of forums/pages led me to this solution - but again it may be something different.

Did you format and do a clean install or just replace the CPU?

I didnt upgrade the memory, just PSU and CPU. The E4500 is dual core too so how could the E7500 created a problem because of it being dual core?

I just upgraded the parts and left the installation of win 7 on there. A CPU upgade shouldent require a complete re-install of the O/S.

I'll try again with the set Affinity settings and see what happens.

Thanks guys!

Pfffft, Man I hate computers. Supposedly were pretty advanced but I've yet to meet a computer which hasnt screwd me over (That includes Mac's apple fanboys). Well the game worked for about 5 mins and then my PC froze and wouldnt respond, nothin in it but to reset. Now I have a corrupted hard drive dammit! uuugh. I'm going to just use my laptop for now, I think if I have to bother with that computer one more time I'm going to throw it off a bridge.

OK, got it going again, some incorrect settings in the bios.

: P

Dont know why a corrupted HDD error came from, but its all good. By the way, Its nice to see that there are good helpful people on this forum. I havent been on for a while and its good to get people on the other end genuinely wanting to help.

Thanks!
