I just wrote a really long message, but I pressed back and it all dissapeared -.- so now I'm going to write it again, but alot shorter...
Here is a link to the DxDiag report of the computerim having problems with:
http://home.ripway.com/2004-7/150954/DxDiag.txtThe Toshiba Equium 3200M, running Windows 98SE, has an onboard NVIDIA RIVA 128/128ZX, and also has an S3 ViRGE-ZX PCI card. DirectDraw and D3D work fine on the ViRGE, but It only has 2MB of memory so I can't use it for any gaming. The NVIDIA RIVA 128/128ZX DirectDraw tests work fine but D3D doesn't work at all in DX 9.0c. In 7.0a the first D3D test (Software rendering) works, but the second test (Hardware Acceleration) doesn't. It shows a blank DxDiag windows with flashing horizontal lines, giving the error, (User verification of hardware rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (unknown error).
As suggested by a few sites I set the desktop to 16bpp color, which, apparently, makes hardware acceleration work, it did make a difference but the second D3D test still failed giving the same error. However, instead of showing a blank DxDiag window, it showed half a blank window and half of the box object, but it wasn't moving and the flashing lines were still there.
Please help!

Riva 128.Your card is a freakin' dinosaur, dude! The FX5200's are the first DX9 compliant cards from NVidia. Yours is *7* generations older!
Guess what I'm saying is get time to get a new card...or if all the hardware in your system is that ancient, time to get a new computer!
