Comment: I am having problems playing games on my system. I have tried to play these games(NFS-Hot Prusuit, star wars jedi knight:Outcast, Unreal II, and Max Payne)and all have the same problem. They would start ok but after 5 or 10 minutes, the screen and gameplay would freeze. The game will resumes after several minutes but the screen would be pixellated and distorted. the game can still be played but it is very hard to see. I can exit the game but I have to reboot the system to eliminate the screen effect or it would have the effect for all the other games. I have downloaded the lastest drivers for the video card and my motherboard (asus P4P8x 8xAGP) and have the lastest directx(9.0). I have tried play the games at the lowest video settings with no real success. Can anyone help me? Is this an issue with my card, motherboard, ram or OS? By the way I have also loaded these games on a Dell inspirion laptop with WinXP with no problems. Tnanks, Roselio

Reply: (edit)Is this what you mean by *pixellated and distorted* graphics? http://www.themodfathers.com/modfatha/ocgpu/Step11.jpg I think what you are seeing are artifacts, and this happens if your gfx card's pipelines are defective and unable to handle the clock speeds.Artifacting could result in permanent damage and may freeze/lock-up in games/benchmarks. This usually happens if your overclock too high or its temp. is too high, but im guessing that you aren't overclocking at all. My suggestion is to install your FX5600 on another cpu and see if that works. You could also try playing games with your PC case/panel open, and check if your gfx card fan is spinning. Reply: (edit)I tried UnR3al's suggestion to play with the cover off, it did run ok for a while but just when I thought it was fixed, it went crazy again. I do not have another board w/ 8x AGP to test the card but I think it is defective. I am still trying to find out what exactly is wrong. Is there a way to check if my card has been overclocked?
