Comment:

I just installed a Leaktek 6800 card and loaded the latest driver from Nvidia website (61.77). Games seemed to run fine but my 3dmark05 score was low compared to others. So I searched out a new driver on the web (66.81) and it greatly improved my 3dmark05 scores but I started freezing up during games. any suggestions?

here's a link to those drivers & there's also some info about the improvements:

The following site may be useful...it compares many of the newest nVidia drivers, but here's the final conclusion:

"After having three DirectX games and three OpenGL games benchmarked we came to the conclusion that the DirectX games run better on 66.xx drivers, they perform the best at this moment. For OpenGL games, is the Forceware 61.77 driver the one with the highest framerates, it performs better then the other drivers in the games we've used."

In that review they used a FX5500, not a 6800.

True, they did use the FX5500 & he has the 6800...

What I don't get is why aren't these new Forceware drivers posted at the nVidia website, only on their FTP or 3rd party sites? Does that mean it's still in the testing phase?
