Comment:

Hey guys, I am looking for some advice, if possible. I am a huge gamer and have been away from the PC world of gaming for a long time due to my interest in my XBox 360. But now I want to start getting back into it. I
have a PC right now that is from Q4 2002. Here are the three main specs:

Dell Demension 8250C
Intel Pentium 4 Processor @ 2.4GHz
512MB RAM
128MB Radeon 9500 PRO Video Card

This computer has lasted me a lot longer than any I've had in the past so I'm looking to stay with Dell. I like the fact that I can have the 4-year in-home service because with this computer in its 3rd year, the hard drive fried twice and I was able to have someone come and do all the internal installation stuff for me because I'm not 100% computer saavy with parts and installation.

So my choice I've been looking at has the following specs:

Dell Demension E521

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core 5600+

Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs

250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™

Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW

256MB NVIDIA Geforce 7300LE TurboCache (the best it offers)

Integrated Sound Blaster®Audigy™ HD Software Edition

ATI Theater 650 PRO Combo Analog/Digital TV Tuner with Remote Control

Roxio Creator 9 Premier: Burn CDs and DVDs, Edit Video, and more

4Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor - Next Day

CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service to 4Yr Lim Warranty

Price: $1300 - $1500

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Brian

If you're looking to spend that much you might as well go for something like the level 1 XPS 710 or you could tweak a 410 XPS eh!

The video card won't cut it for most of the more graphically advanced games out there. Keep shopping!

Try to get 7600 series as the minimum. The CPU and RAM already good enough. 7900GS or X1950Pro already quite cheap right now, you can also opt for that.
