I made the switch from my Geforce TI4600 to a Radeon 9800 PRO today. I have an AMD with a Soyo motherboard and the via kt-400 chipset. I am noticeing that running 3dmark and several games I am getting mild artifacting. It seems isolated in small areas usually outlines of large square patterns. During one game about 1/4 of the display looked corrupted then recovered and looked fine. I also noticed that in 3dMark 2001 the performance was very litte improved. With the 4600 I had a score of 12,000 and now I am getting a score of 13,200. In 3dMark 2003 I went from 1700 to 4400 or something close to that. What do you think my problem is with the artifacting?? I am starting to miss my reliable nVida card. LOL

Well, I fixed the problem! I changed the setting from 8x AGP down to 4x and all my problems went away and the card memory is running much cooler too. I am thinking my MOBO was feeding it 1.5 volts instead of the .8 it requires. Hope I didn't hurt anything.

Unlikely...I've read some overclockers that have gone from 4X to 2X because they couldn't control or lock the agp/pci buss on their mobos. Some will do anything for a few extra Mhz and bragging rights. You'll be fine at 4X.
