OS: Vista
CPU/Ram: 1.86 Dual Core 2 / 1
Model/Manufacturer: Intel D975XBX
Comment:
Dear all,

I'm planning on getting a new PC system. Ditch my old P4 HyperThreading.
Please note my budget is around 750$
I am planning to go on the below specs. all your comments and advices are welcome.

Processor: Intel E8400 or Intel Q9300.
Motherboard: Any mobo with Nvidia 750i chipset (Asus, gigabyte or MSI).
Graphic card: Nvidia 9600GT.

I am not really picky. I don't care about the specs of the monitor as long as it's a 22". Nothing can be worse than my current monitor.

Regards,

Regards,
AJ

You may wanna reconsider the board choice. The 750i chipset is really just a revamped version of the 650i. A board based on the Intel P35 chipset would probably be a better choice.

Almost 1000 customers at newegg have gone for this Gigabyte board:

EDIT: The 1000 that I mentioned are just the ones that have written reviews...I'm sure they sold a LOT more than that!

But this motherboard does not support PCI Express 2.0! Knowing that I am not planning to have more than 1 single video card (9600GT), do you think I should be concerned that performance will be any less? if yes, I will be buying a EVGA 780i:

ok first you never want to get sli ram it is horrible. This is the ram you want
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...
I would also recommend this video card it is much faster and the same price.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...
I would recommend this motherboard since its cheaper because pci-e slots work with pci-e 2.0 cards so either
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...
or pick the p35 chipset one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...

And go with the e8400 you can overclock it to
4ghz on air cooling and if you don't have a case yet i would recommend this one
