Hello everyone recently a friend from work gave me a ATI Radeon X1300 so i brought it home popped it in my new machine DL'ed the drivers for it and tried to boot up TES 4:Oblivion. Now the game boots up just fine and i'll load up a file and i can see everything walk around in interact with things for maybe 10 seconds before the monitor goes black and the game and everything else crashes to the desktop (the light on my tower stays on but it acts like the machine has been rebooted completely). So I decided to upgrade my Power supply and went out and bought a 500 watt power suppy (the video card requires a direct plug from the power supply) Plugged it into my machine but still the same problem(i encountered the same problem with ALL of my other games which all worked just fine with my previous graphics card. So I wondered whether or not the old drivers from my ATI Radeon 9600 were interfering with the new drivers so i uninstalled everything named ATI from add and remove hardware, and deleted the drivers for the new graphics card from device manager.....and reloaded everything but STILL the same problem. I don't know if i'm missing something or what but any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

You should always remove the old ATI drivers/software 1st...that should have been done before you shutdown & removed the 9600. Personally, I don't care for the Catalyst Control Center, plus I don't want .NET Framework on my system, so I always use the "driver only" version. Try using this:

Your system only slightly exceeds the minimum requirements for Oblivion. I wouldn't expect really great performance but it *should* be better than with the 9600. You'll probably have to go with low or medium settings:

Try googling "oblivion crashes to desktop"
