New graphics Card for Sims 2?

Specs: Windows XP
I have Sims 2 with all expansions and stuff packs and lots of custom content. I am getting random crashes to desktop without generating error logs. My system is very old, but I can't afford to upgrade it at this time, although I may be able to squeeze the budget for a better graphics card. I am running an AMD Sempron processor 3100+, an nVIDIA GeForce 5200, and have 2GB of RAM. My OS is Windows XP. Are there any not-too-very-expensive cards that are compatible with my system that would give better performance?

The system requirements from Sims 2 are fairly low. The FX5200 should handle it without any problems. Crashing to the desktop isn't video card related but it *may* be driver related. When's the last time you updated your nvidia drivers? Are you experiencing problems with any other games?
