New Desktop, need opinions

Specs: Windows Vista
Hey guys! So i've been looking around, trying to find myself a new desktop. I have about a 1.2k US budget. Two I found in particular was:

What opinions do you guys have of these? Which is the best value for money? How will both go taking all the new games at high specs? Eg. COD: Modern Warfare 2, Starcraft 2 etc? Also, there is a website I often visit to look at parts called

Now If someone could go to, add parts for a new computer with a limit of $1500 Australian (It's an Aussie site), and tell me whether the ebay link, or what you can make there would be better for the same price. Something i'm also not sure about is the 9800GT, should I maybe upgrade that to a 9800GTX? i'm willing to spend 300ish on the GFX card to get something that will last a long time.
Thanks a lot guys

Also, monitor is not required.

The best value would be to build your own, but since that obviously isn't an option I suggest buying a computer with a very low-end (or integrated) graphics card, then buying your own upgrade. You're really paying a premium by buying one with the system.

A 9800GT only costs $90US.

You could look into a Gateway MX or DX model with low end cards and a higher end CPU, then add your own upgraded card if necessary.

One thing to keep in mind when buy a computer that you're planning to upgrade is that the power supply needs to be sufficient enough to run whatever GPU you pick. For a 9800GT it's recommened to have a 400w PSU with 30A on the 12v rail.
