Subject: New agp card! Worth the money?OS: xpCPU/Ram: 3400+/1gigModel/Manufacturer: custom |
Comment: I was wondering whether it is worth it to purchase a new agp card or save up and go pci express. I am thinking either an x850xt or 7800gs. Firstly is it worth the upgrade from a 9800pro? and secondly would my athlon64 3400+ @ 2.6ghz bottleneck either of them?

Reply: (edit)With a processing power like yours, you definitely don't need to save up for a complete PCI-E overhaul. You can have a heck of fluid gaming with the 7800GS.

Reply: (edit)If it makes any difference i will be gaming at 1440x900 with no AA or AF. I can't really see any noticable improvement from AA or AF at the resolution i run at. Is a 7800gs too much for me or will it last me a while?

Reply: (edit)I would go at least with a 7600GT. With your CPU, a 7800GS would show a significant performance increase over the 7600GT, and your 9800 Pro. Corn chips are no place for a mighty warrior!

Reply: (edit)7800gs is definitely the way to go. it is amazing. i have one. also the 7600gt is a pci e card. the top choices for u are the 6800gs or a 7800gs. the 6800gs can be unlocked for more pipelines but the 7800gs overclocks like hell. its really up to u. Zo
