Hey guys..

Ive been making a 2nd comp at my place and its a Celeron 400Mhz, 640mb pc133 ram, 30Gb HD and a tnt2 32mb video card.

The problem is i wanted to be able to play CS and stuff on it and it performed extremely bad. So i ran 3dMark2001 on it and got a score of 450. I thought this was bad so I had another comp with same specs, but less ram and an onboard 4mb intel810 video. Once running 3dmark2001 on this it got 300.

Shouldnt the other comp with the 32mb card get a lot higher score? Im running the latest nVidia drivers on it, is it possible that they can decrease performance cause there so new and not made for this card? Could the card be damamged or not performing right?

Thanks for ur help...

What you're saying doesn't really make sense..The Intel Onboard is crap. TNT2 is better than that crap. 3dmark01 is a bit CPU-Depandant so maybe because of the ram the score is much lower.

ok ill say it again, in 3dMark2001 with both comps.

*Celeron 400Mhz, 640mb pc133 ram, 32mb tnt2 SCORE: 450

*Celeron 400Mhz, 380mb pc133 ram, 4mb onboard intel video SCORE: 300

What i was trying to say is the comp with the tnt2 performing badly? I cant play CS on it when i thought it would be well over the recommended requirements. Im running the latest nVidia drivers on it, and was asking if it was possible that these could slow the card down??

Hope thats more clear...

The 200MHz Celeron you have performs more like a 200MHz P2, and the graphic card does not help as it has no Transform and Lighting which is important in video cards these day, the rest of you PC like the ram and the HDD is OK

If it was possible to even get a Geforce 256 or Geforce 2 they would help in the games performance quite a bit and those 2 cards are ultra cheap these days, probably pick one up for £20-£25 somewhere

From what I've heard the Celerons performed better than P2. But the P4 Celeron's are crap..sadly my P3 733mhz is faster than my dad's 1.4ghz Celeron

So basically this tnt2 card isnt much better than 4mb of onboard video? geez, lol

Also the AGP is only *2 so would the GeForce2 card be best for that setup?

Yes a Geforce 2 would work great and you would see a performance increase

As the AGP is 2x do not get any graphic card that is rated for 8x, only get 4x which is backwards compatible with 2x

The Geforce 2 should work great
