Firstly, the only thing you have to look at is if your motherboard supports AGP 4x/8x cards, which it obviously does. It having GDDR3 memory has nothing to do with compatibility.

Secondly, that processor of yours will be a HUGE bottleneck for an x800. You know, even a 9600XT is probably being bottlenecked by that processor.

Lastly, x800s require quite a bit of power and since you have an outdated Sony vaio, your power supply will probably have trouble powering an x800.

ATI Radeon 9800 pro

I second that. You need a CPU upgrade before anything!

Well.... for a CPU Upgrade, i will NEED a new MOBO, and for a MOBO upgrade, i will also NEED a new Case/Tower.... Only because the Sony MOBOs are shaped differently and wont fit correctly in any other Tower besides its own...

If that's an argument against upgrading your CPU, that's like saying you're gonna replace the tires on your car when the brakes are not working because replacing the brakes is a heck of a lot more trouble and expensive.

Trouble and expense is irrelevant. Your video card, while it's not the fastest out there, is still sitting around waiting for your CPU to catch up.

If it were me, I'd sell your old system and apply that money to a new one. You're gonna end up replacing just about everything in there anyway.
