Subject: Need upgrade helpOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: IntelP4 3.00GHZ/ 512MBModel/Manufacturer: Dell Dimension 8300 |
Comment: I need to upgrade my PC but I have limited funds at the moment. I would like help in determining which upgrade (RAM/Vid card) would give me the biggest lift. The only game I play is Star Wars Galaxies. I only have 512 of RAM now and an Nvidia FX 5200 card. I do not know if its a 32MB/64MB card or even how to find out. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Reply: (edit)"I only have 512 of RAM now..." You should have at least 1GB. "...and an Nvidia FX 5200 card. I do not know if its a 32MB/64MB card..." I highly doubt it's either. Probably 128MB or possibly 256MB. "...or even how to find out." Download Everest Free Edition to get the details about your hardware: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4...

Reply: (edit)Another question: I installed a GiG (for a total of 1.5G of RAM) and tried playing. It still seems to be choppy. I turned down all the settings like I had on my laptop, but it still isnt playing as well. I have a 120GHD with about 50% free. I have dl'd the newest video drivers. Any ideas what else I can do?
