Dear computing smart people... I need your help! I am trying to decide between two laptops- the HP DV9500t and the Gateway NX860XL. Both have 2.0GHz and 2GB ram. I am a medium-solid gamer, as i like games like doom 3 and Halo. The Hp has a Nvidia Geforce 8600M GS, whilst the Gateway has a Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS. I am told that the Hp is more of an entertainment, whilst the gateway is more gaming, but I cannot find a massive difference- so please help me clever people!!!!!!!!!!!!

The nVidia link provided doesn't cover mobile graphics.

The GeForce GO 7900GS is better for gaming. And if possible, choose XP over Vista:

7900 GS- Direct X 9
8600M GS- Dx 10

8600 is not as powerful as 7900 but ok for gaming at medium settings for new games.

Perfect! Only you may want to make the hard drive 7200 rpm for better performance and you may want to get the new core 2 duo 800 mhz bus processors(like the T7300, T7100,T7500...).

You made a mistake here. you SHOULD NOT GET VISTA FOR GAMING.
vista slow and will suck all your RAM.

I'm pretty sure vista is unstable and microsoft will release the service pack 2 as window XP did.
