I am trying to install a game and before it installs, it will tell me that I need DirectX 8.0 or higher to play. I have DirectX 11. The game is Medal of Honor and it is a Pack of 5 games in one. I can install all the other ones except this one. Please assist if possible.

i *think* directX isn't all inclusive, so if you have DX11 and something needs DX8, you'll still have to install DX8. if something else needed 9 and 10, you'd have to install both of those too.

So I can install each DirectX, DX 8, 9 and 10, I would just have to separate where they are installed and make sure each one isn't written over? Kinda stupid how that is. I figured, if you have the latest version, you can play anything with that version or before. Oh well, I will try that out and see what happens.

You can NOT install DX 8.x in Windows Vista!!!

You are trying to play a game that was made for Win 9X and XP on Vista, without running a virtual machine with XP installed, it isn't going to happen.

Than how can I play the other games that came with it. I bought the Medal of Honor 10th Anniversary Set. I can load and play all the games except one. I forget which one. I will check when I get off work. Plus the error I get is, "Need DirectX 8.0 or Higher" I have the "Higher" part of that error. Confusing huh?

I have quite a few old DX7-9 games that run fine under Win7.

Install the latest DX9c pack from MS (the first link X86 gave you). That fixed most of the issues my old games had under Vista and 7.
