Not sure where to post this question???
Since i need broadband for games ill post it here first.Alrighty, so basicaly i live out in the sticks, about 30minutes from the nearest city. Nobody around here can get cable, and all dsl/broadband availability checks on the internet say I cant get anything better than dialup or sattelite.
Sattelite is ungodly expensive here, uploads and downloads are so different it would be useless for games, and they all have bandwidth, or time limitations on it making it useless.
Is there a better broadband availability checker some place or is there any other way to find out if i can get ANTYHING faster than what i have now??
My internet connection is so slow, it downloads anywere from 0.5kb/s <-thats NOT a typo!! To a blazing fast 3.0kb/s.I read about ISDN, which says 128k, and supposedly anyone can get it, is this true?
Does anyone know of ANY WAY to get broadband for us folks that live out of town?
I dont care what it takes but i need to get something faster than what i have now. Since the internet is basicaly a big network, is there a way to buy the required equipment and tap into it at broadband speed myself? Without waiting for some ISP to bring broadband out here since we know that will never happen.Sorry if this question is in the wrong section, but iam desperate!!!! It literally takes me 10 minutes to CHECK MY EMAIL!!!

DSL/Cable would be provided by your local phone or cable company, so check with them. Otherwise you have satellite (Which you ruled out) and cellular. Many of the major cell phone providers have data plans and usb or PCMCIA cards what will allow you to connect your PC to their data network wirelessly. The new standards are pretty fast.
