Need advice on a bottleneck / upgrade decision.

Specs: Windows 7
I have a amd phenom ii 965 cpu and a nvidia gtx 570 and 8 gigs of ram running on a 1080 monitor. All other things considered equal, upgrading which of the two would net me the best gaming performance increase? I mostly play fps like battlefield 4 and such. I have about 300 dollars to either upgrade the mobo and cpu or just the video card.

It would help to know the make/model of your current motherboard but I see very little reason to upgrade anything. The CPU can be easily overclocked & your video card is very near the top of the charts. I suggest you just clean up your Windows installation to make it lean & mean, then overclock both the CPU & GPU.
