Mysterious Lag

Lately I have been getting a lot of lag on my internet (comcast cable) on games like CS and etc. Whats mysterious is only like a week ago I had no lag. My ping in these games seems to spike very often. I am behind a router (which recently seems to have reset the port forwarding, but i fixed that) but it doesnt seem to be doing anything. Anyone have any insights?

I recently noticed that my crosshair lagged in cs,it didnt used to do that,but its only happening to me,and i know for sure its not spyware or any of that,ive used spybot S&D,and adaware,and AVG virus scanner,and my ping is lower than most of the people that pley in there,cause i live close to the server...

Welcom to the Wonderful World of Online Gaming. Run a traceroute to your game server's IP address and note any hops with exceptionally high pings. Typically what's happened is that one of the routers along the path is overloaded, misconfigured, or failing and it's eating packets. Usually if you can find the bad hop and email your traceroute to the owner he can reset it or change your routing through his segment to give you a better route.
