my mic dont work

i connect the mic into my laptop it works fine after a week i conncet it and it didnt work on my sister laptop it works so it is fine and when i talk on skype or msn it did not work and the contact cant hear me and it not mute so plz plz help

Do you have vista? If you do then hook your mic up and go into your control panel. Go to your microphone/volume control settings. Change the decibels (db) of your mic. For some reason on vista the decibal level is set incredibly low and is not audible for most.
