my fps going really low

My fps hold at 50-60 then drop off to as low as 8. This will go back and forth constantly. From 60 - 8 and back again. This happens while playing any video game

sounds like something is hogging system resources. All sorts of things can do that, like software and processes that start up with the OS automatically. Ironically, both a Virus AND Antivirus software could also cause your system to drag. For example, in Vista where Windows Defender is built in, it kept trying to start a system scan while i was in game. it was very irritating.
