No. That's not how you update the driver. All you have to do is identify which video card you have, then go to the manufacturer's website & download the driver..they're always free. NEVER pay for drivers!

If you don't know which video card you have, try this:

- right click on My Computer
- click Properties
- click the Hardware tab
- click Device Manager
- click the "+" next to Display adapters

What's listed?

Yikes! You have a very old machine. How much memory do you have? If you don't know, just right click on My Computer again...it will open to the General tab. Post everything that's listed under Computer:

OK, that's better. You don't have enough RAM. You really shouldn't be running XP on that system without a RAM upgrade. It must really run like crap.

I just checked the SiS website & there is no XP driver for the SiS5598. You're stuck with the generic Windows driver. Time to upgrade your system. You can try using the Win9x/2000 driver, but I doubt it will work:

Hmmmm, the link I posted was supposed to be a direct download.

"okay so I'm at that website.

As I explained, there is no XP driver available. All you can do is try the Windows 2000 driver. Select Windows 2000, then IGP, then 5598.

"SiS 5598/6326"

WOW... lol. late 90's era chipset. I remember benchmarking that along side a rendition V2200(the rendition won of course) back in like 97 or 98. just wow.

The sis 6326 is NOT supported by second life, lol, stop trying!

PowerMac 9600(1 ghz G4)
512mb RAM
50gb SCSI
ATi 9200 PCI

The file you downloaded should have been 5598_113.zip. After you unzip it, open the folder (5598_113) & inside there's a Win2000 folder.

What you need to do is go to Device Manager, click on the "+" next to Display Adapter, then right click on SiS 5598/6326 & select Update Driver. When the wizard pops up, select "No, not this time", then click Next. Select "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)" & click Next. Make sure "Search for the best driver" is selected, uncheck "Search removable media" & select "Include this location", then browse to the 5598_113\Win2000 folder & click Next.
