I've tried everything, and I am still clueless.
It started about a month ago, but my mouse will lock up for a few seconds, and the dpi will reset to 800. It does it at random.
At first I figured maybe I have a virus, or something software related. So I ran all kinds of anti-virus and anti-adware things. I installed mouse drivers and uninstalled them. And after neither worked, I just formatted my computer. But as soon as a fresh copy of windows xp was installed, before I even connected back to the internet, I still had the problem.
Then I figured it may just be the mouse itself. So I got my roommates mouse and plugged it up to my computer, and I have the bug with his mouse. And my mouse works flawlessly on his computer.
So then I figured my mouseport just may be loose. So I plugged it into a usb port. I still had the bug. So I plugged it in another, and another, even the ones in the front of my computer. Every port had the same problem.
So what does that leave? My motherboard. I opened up my tower, looking for anything loose/out of the ordinary. I didn't find anything. I updated the drivers to my motherboard. But I still have the problem.
My motherboard is the only thing I can think of thats giving me the problem, because everything else is fine.
It's not my mousepad, that wouldnt reset my dpi. It's not my mouse, because it does it on other mice. It's not my usb ports because other things like my keyboard/headphones work fine. And it's not anything to do with my software because I formatted. So I guess it must be the motherboard?
Anyone have any ideas?
P.S. My motherboard is the Asus P4P800 SE
