The motherboard I will be buying from my friend is a ASUS K8V SE DELUXE. On newegg it says it supports 3200 ram, but it says nothing else. Would pc2700 fit in this board, or should I buy new 3200. I am thinking of buying his board, and buying a 3400+, instead of buying his 3000+. Here is the motherboard.
Here are the specs when I'm done: Asus K8V SE DELUXE amd 64 3400+ 80gb wd hardrive PNY 6800 vanilla 1gb pc 2700, or 3200 if need be.

You should get PC3200. Even if your RAM does work, it will severely limit your system's performance due to lack of memory bandwidth. As for getting a 3400 over his 3000, dude, don't bother. If you're gonna replace the CPU, at least get something with 1M of cache, and even then it's not worth the money...yet. Keep your eye on the Athlon 64 3700 that fits your motherboard. When it becomes reasonably priced, slap it on!
