hey, i have a 7.1 sound card in my computer with a 5.1 surround sound speaker system and i was wondering if u could enable the motherboards sound card so that u can have 2 audio outputs for the computer workin. the reason for this is so that i can attach a cable from the audio out into my tv audio input, so that audio on my computer can be played though my computer speakers as well as my tv. this way it is possible to switch from computer to tv to watch a dvd from my computer system. if this audio problem cannot be fixed or done, how do i find a similar solution to try to do what i wish to do. is there any adapter i can buy that will work with my speakers (3 pin output jack for 5.1). thanks so much

you could go to radio shack and get a spliter.

Ensure that you get a splitter (adapter) that splits one STEREO connection into two STEREO connections. (not mono) That will work. Also, keep in mind that the audio signal will be weaker when it is split.

Using both sound cards (Inbuilt and PCI) would work, just set the onboard sound (running to your TV) as the default output device in the program you use for wtching DVD's, and leave your other sound card as the windows default.
The only problem is that a 'lot' of sound card drivers cause conflicts when the onboard sound is enabled, the only thing you can do is try it with your soundcard drivers and hope that it works.
