Monitor - VP912b - 19" flat panel LCD Monitor (latest drivers)

okay here we go ......i loaded doom3 on my computer, and i loaded the latest
patches, for the game...........loaded the latest DirectX Drivers......and my problem
is i was playing the game....after about 10mins the game starts acting weird......
my monitor goes to a black screen.....for a couple of seconds.....than the picture
comes back......for a few seconds.....while this is happening i can hear the music
and sound effects.....while the video comes in and out.....(no skips in music)...
so while this video flickering happens....i have to wait till i can see my mouse in between the
flickers.....to exit the game.......but once out of the game and in regular windows xp enviroment
no more flickers.....everything works just fine....

oh and one more thing i am using a dvi input on the monitor to the video card.....

and help will be greatly appreciated.....thanks

Have you tried lowering the refresh rate of the monitor? Most flat panel monitors have a rather low refresh rate. Try starting low at around 60hz and running the game to see if it still does it. If it doesnt, then raise the rate 1 increment at a time till you find your max. Also you should make sure that doom isnt overiding your desktop settings so i reccomend putting these commands in your doom.cfg file.

seta r_displayrefresh "60"
seta com_fixedtic "-1"
seta r_swapInterval "1"

Note the first command with the "60" should be changed each time you raise your refresh rate. If you raise it to 65 the command should also be changed to 65.

"Try starting low at around 60hz and running the game to see if it still does it. If it doesnt, then raise the rate 1 increment at a time till you find your max"

Don't do that...search for your monitor online and find its specs sheet. Then set it. Monitors can work above their refresh limit, but it'll send them to their death much quicker.

Are you playing the game in your monitor's native resolution?

i tried changing the refresh rates......still same problem.....but i noticed when the screen goes black and than back to normal (every 2 seconds) i listen to the fan on the video card....and when the screen goes black.....the fan on the card seems to be running faster than normal......and than when the screen goes back to normal the fan on the card seems to run at regular speed..... so now i tried using the analog input on the card (before i was using the dvi input) and all works well no black screen........only when i am using dvi cable and the dvi input.... so i tried the computer on a different monitor and the same thing happens after 10 min screen goes black and back to normal......any suggestion? thanks
