Modded Ps2 not reading DVD's

My modded ps2 does not read ANY dvd's however reads games burnt and non burnt fine.
I just put in the dvd and it doesnt even recognize it..what could be the problem>?

if the mod meant opening the case up then , more than probably, the angle of the disk laser has been inadvertantly changed. plenty of self help sites like this but its a delicate op can ruin the ps2
Summary: thats impossible, since a cd burner cant even recognize a dvd. put any dvd in the drive and it wont even recognize the dvd. unless it is a dvd/cd burner, then it is impossible to burn dvd's. Or els...
