i just posted on the hardware forum about minimum requirements of games which got me curious. There are some high graphic games out there. since im not a gamer, what is the highest minimum requirements for some of them? for example, and this isnt a high end game, but "ER" requires 2.0ghz cpu/256 ram and 64mb video. I stated in my post about the games that used to require 100mhz cpu and 16mb ram... cant do much for 100/16 anymore.
99% of computer problems are not the motherboard nor power supply but simply between the keyboard and the chair.

For this day and age. A "base minimum" would be an AMDxp 2.0ghz or Pentium 4 2.4ghz. 512megs pc2700. Geforce 5700ultra or Radeon 9600XT.
Recommended would be AMD64 3000+ or Pentium 3.0Ghz..1GiG of Pc3200..6600GT or 9800XT.

Maybe...but, I have,
AMD 64-bit 3200
Gig 3200 Ram
6600 GTand it struggles to play Quake 4 (smoothly) at 800x600 with low settings.
Ok, I can run MAX PAYNE 2 at 1600*1200 4*AA 8*AF with no probs, but the game is like 2 years old now.

Well I have:
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB)
2x 512 mb PC3200
all wrapped up in a Compaq pre-built system.Runs Quake 4 very playable at 640x480, everything on low ^^;
But then again, for the same price I paid for this, I'm getting a much better system now. Got this one about a year and a half ago for college.

your post in the hardware forum was yanked due to double posting about the same issue. Hopefully you got my recommendation?
This space for rent

I have pentium 4 1.7GHz and have got used to playing games at approx 20-40fps.
No luck upgrading my processor no matter how much I have tried.Sarosh

my post was yanked!!!shame. it wasnt even the same question. thats why i posted on 2 different forums. who yanks them anyway?
