Hello everyone i have an old comp it is about 3 years old and it used to work great but now its falling apart i want to get it into shape this comp HP is with 128mb pentium 3 it starts slow to i want to make it batter so that i can play games with it too. thx

Also which video card should i get that is under 180$ because i was going to get 9600pro but it is now 249$ thx for advice

Jeez ... were do I start? ,ore RAM, fastest
CPU your motherboard supports, if not a new
mother board, try an ordinary RADEON 9600. If
you are on a budjet try wiping your disks &
re-installing windows. oh a bigger hard drive
probably wouldn't go amiss either

I don't know where you saw a 9600 Pro for $249, but that is a horrible deal. The 9800 Pro is about that price for the ATI version, and about $210 for Saphire version at Newegg. Check this link out if you are set on the 9600 pro. It is $151.50. It is a one day sale, but even after the one day sale it won't go up that much, I have been watching it.

The first rule in upgrading a PC on a budget is memory: Put as much memory on the machine as you can afford.
- Update all your device drivers.
- Remove all devices from the PC that you don't need - if you have broadband, you probably don't need a fax/modem card installed. If you don't use the floppy drive ever, turn it off in BIOS and/or disconnect it.
- You can improve performance just by installing the fastest CPU your motherboard can handle but honestly: are you really getting your money's worth putting yesterday's technology into your machine? You're not stretching the machine's useful life out all that much. Better to wait until you can afford a new MB-CPU combo so you can put a MUCH faster CPU into your machine.
Check one of the price comparison websites for replacement hardware, like www.pricegrabber.com or www.dealtime.com. They can point you to the best deals on the net for the new video card you're looking for. The card you're looking at is nice, I think you can get a better price on it shopping around.

I want to buy a comp for myself because im going to leave my old comp for the parents so what do you guys sugest i want to get and alienware but they r 2 expensive i want to get something under 1,300$

well I personally got a pentium 4 system for 900 US bucks here with every componant being new. It also included a 15" LCD monitor since I knew the guy who sold the LCD. My signature at the bottom is the specifications for that deal.=)
It depends on what you want to do on your computer- whether fast games or just normal web-surfing and using Word.
Ben,
Pentium 4 1.7GHz, 512 LB Cache
512 DDR RAM PC2700
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128 DDR RAM
Western Digital 80GB 7200 RPM
