Low fps on KOTOR

hi there i'm having problems with star wars: knights of the old republic at certain points in the game the fps just dies no matter how i tweak the games settings or update my graphics drivers i'm running it on an X800 pro AGPx8. I have also updated the game to the latest version. is there anything else i can do to get it running properly

It sounds like a backround process is causing this. Just because you have a top of the line machine doesn't mean you still don't have to take care of it. Do Spyware/virus scans, run "msconfig" disable any uneeded startup items and close all uneeded programs before playing.
