Hi,
My problem is that I was getting bad frame rates on GTA: San Andreas(27-60 FPS). So I got 3DMark 2005 to see if there was something wrong with my computer or if the game was causing the problems.
I ran the 3DMark tests and I only got a score of 2833, while other people with the same card as me usually get scores around 4500-4900. What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it?The card is an Leadtek WinFast 6800 GT AGP.
Thanks.

Several things to check.
- card is connected to the PSU?
- latest motherchipset drivers & video drivers installed?
- system free of viruses, spyware & unnecessary background apps?
- screen resolution?
- AA/AF on or off?
- BIOS settings adjusted correctly? (that means manually adjusted for optimal performance, not simply using default settngs)http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050705/vga-charts-pcie-02.html#3d_mark_2005

yea i agree with that...also you could have just got a lemon of a card...my Geforce 6800 GT OC'd (BFG comes overclocked) gets 5200 on cdmark05...
yup!

Thanks for your replies.
I got the computer custom made for me by a swedish company called Datorbutiken, and I don't think they would have forgotten to connect the graphics card to the PSU, I can't check though, because sealed it with a screw that I can't remove. But I'll call them tomorrow and ask about it anyway.
I think the system is free of viruses and other pests, because I don't have any other problems whit the computer, except for that the playback is jerky when playing HDTV video files.
The screen resolution for the test was 1024x768 with no AA or AF.
I am using the latest nvidia forceware drivers(77.72). Don't know about the chipset drivers.
What BIOS settings should I look for and what should they be set to?

If your looking at the high end results for 3dMark etc, these people somtimes go to extreme lengths to get a higher score so a lot of the times you can't really compare, like tweaking the crap out of the os and disabling processes and services, not to mention overclocking etc
I went through the same thing when i got my system wich is almost identical to yours, mind you i can't remember my score, but it turned out i was above average in the standings for a stock card (non-overclocked)
That's not to say you don't have a problem with your card but just that you can't expect to be in the top of the charts without some serious work

I just checked the speed of the card with Powerstrip, and it is running at the correct speeds (1000Mhz memory, 350mhz internal clock). That means that the card is connected to the psu, right?
I was thinking, maybe the Windows installation is f-ed up. Could formatting and reinstalling Windows solve this problem?

well.. I have the BFG 6800GTOC which comes with a minimal overclock straight from the factory. It runs at 369/1002, but yours is not that far off and is probabbly not factory overclocked.
Here are some things I would check...
---Make sure you are running in 8x in your video card drivers. If you are not and cant switch it to 8x install your chipset drivers for your mobo.
---Make sure you have your agp apature size in bios set to 256 if you have a 256 card.
---Make sure you have your agp setting in the bios set to 8x
---turn off back ground programs and disable second monitors and such.
---run virus scans, spyware scans, adaware scans all in safe mode.
---Use a program like sandra or cpuz to determin if the rest of your computer is running correctly. Make sure your cpu is running the speed it is supposed to, and that all your ram is being recognised, ect...BTW what are your computer specs? Are your CPU scores real low too? might not be a problem with the video card, but something else in the computer. Is the card or your cpu overheating? Both should have auto throttleback features that will make them run slower if the temp gets too high. How much ram are you running?
And yes there are people that go to great lenghs to get high scores in 3dmark, but I dont think 4000+ is out of the question for your computer(though I dont know the specs on it) Just an example, my computer(amd64 4000, 6800gtoc, 1gig corsair xms, raptor hdds, gets a little over 5000pts running stock, but several people with the same configuration as I have have broken the 10,000pt mark.

just another thing to think about...
--Make sure you have Vsync turned off in your drivers
--I also have had problems with the newest drivers from nvidea, its a long shot, but you might try going to an earier version. The main problem I was having with the drivers was in playing back videos(non-game related videos)

I was also going to suggest checking Vsync but you beat me to it, Chris. It does make a big dent in 3dmark scores when Vsync is on.
Your score is definitely low though - I used to get close to that score with my old 9800 Pro in 3dmark 05.
I don't have any suggestions which haven't been mentioned already, but my personal view is that incorrect , or missing, AGP drivers, are the most likely candidate.
I would download and install the latest via/nforce/intel drivers (whichever is applicable)

Thanks for your help.
I tested the other components in my computer with SiSoft Sandra, and everything seems to work the way it's supposed to, except that the hard drive seems a little slow, but I don't know 'cause I've got a 300 GB SATA drive and the closest to that in the benchmark was a 120 GB SATA drive. My drive was at 55 MB/s drive index speed and the other was at 84 MB/s. Are larger drives slower than smaller?
In Sandra, on the mainboard information, it says that the AGP speed is at 4x and that fast write is disabled, could that be causing the problems that I'm experiencing? What excactly is fast write and how do I enable it?
I'm also trying to find AGP drivers for my motherboard, which is an MSI K8N Neo2-54G Platinum Edition(nForce 3 Ultra), but I can't find any. I ran the LiveUpdate program and all can find is the chipset driver, which I already have the latest version of.
Does anyone know where I can find an AGP driver for this MB?The specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+(2.2GHz)
GeForce 6800 GT
1 GB DDR PC3200

It also says that Isochronous mode is disabled. Should it be enabled, and if so, how do I enable it?

It's working great now!
I installed the latest nForce drivers from nVidia and now I'm getting a score of 4918 in 3DMark 2005.
Thank you for all your help.

"latest motherchipset drivers & video drivers installed?"
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

Yes, I know, but I thought I had the latest drivers(v5.03) because MSI's LiveUpdate said so. But then I checked nvidia.com, and they had newer drivers available(v5.10).
