Hello all. I am looking to build a new gaming pc and would like some advice. I am looking at purchasing this set-up ...Cpu - AMD 64 3500
M/B - Abit AV8 3rd Eye K8T800 PRO/VT8237
1 GB PC3200 400 MHz Memory
G_force Card w/256 RamAm I going to be OK with this setup and is there anything I can do to make this any better besides PCI Express? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would get this motherboard instead...
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
HyperTransport / DDR400
nVidia nForce 3 Ultra Chipset
Apart from that everything looks cool.
cant fit my system in

If you haven't gone ahead yet... consider this.
1.Make sure the AMD 64 3500 is the 'winchester' model - socket 939 90nm.
(its faster, cooler, and a 939 mobo has greater future-proofing.)2.Nforce 4 socket 939 m/boards are now coming available with PCIe - which will be the way forward for future graphics upgrades.
(SLi doesn't seem worth it unless your loaded! but you get the option anyway.)
Asus A8N seems reasonable price.3.1Gb mem should be plenty for the next year.
(consider if your m/board can handle DDR2 for later upgrades.)4.Consider Radeon X800 PCIe based graphics with Omega drivers if you can afford it(X850 doesn't seem THAT much better for price), X600 XT PCIe if you can't. (unless your favorite games are based on OpenGL.)
Hope that helps. Me? I'm waiting a few months for prices to drop, then doing about the same and praying Elder Scrolls 4 will run on it in 2006!
