If you shop around you can get a geforce 6600GT for under $200. I got mine for $187 from best buy online. Apparently they perform better than a 9800PRO and actually almost match the 6800 in some areas according to Toms hardware guide.
(unfortunately i'm having probs with it just now but i think its PSU related, rather than the card. At least i hope so!)

Anyway hope that helps. Davie.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

For $200 definetely get a 6600 GT. By the way dmacdoul, what psu do you have? my friend recently purchased a 6600gt and had psu trouble because his was 150 watt.

If you plan on getting a 6600 GT AGP or cards like it, you should definetely upgrade your power supply to atleast 350 watts. I reccomend skipping generic companies and getting high quality PSU like those from Antec.
also if you had posted this in the
General Hardware section, you may have recieved more/knowlodgeable posts.

I recommend getting your card from Newegg.com (cheapest and probably most reliable place on the net)
