I will go through this step by step so that someone can please help me through the process of getting this to work.
This is for fully disabling mouse acceleration in the mx500-300 range, I have the mx300.
-Downloaded the driver for mx300 at www.logitech.com
-Extracted the contents of the file into C:\temp
-Went into control panel:system:hardware tab:device manager:mouse and other pointing devices
-Right clicked on HID-compliant mouse and clicked update drivers
-Went through the list of options so I could find the file myself.
-When I got to brose file, I opened up C:\temp\winxp where the file is located, called: lmusbxp.inf
-Double-clicked that, pressed ok.
But once I got that far, it gave me this message: This specified location does not give information about your hardware. This tells me that this is the wrong file for the job, but it cant because it came from the driver update file.
------------
Another problem that I am having if you cannot tackle that one is I recently added a user account other than administrator that I normally use, but I cannot delete now. And when I log in, I only have the new user account there, because administrator only shows up if there is no other account available. How do I delete it?
Thank you.

Ok i believe u are doing it all wrong with the logitech drivers. You cannot install it the conventional way in device manager that u mentioned in your orginal posts. First unplug the mx300 from the pc. Do not connect it. Download the logitech mouseware. I believe they are up to 9.79. after extraction of the files, run the setup file if it doesnt come up by itself. You will be prompted for setup installation. After the setup is done, then plug the mx300 back in. Once plugged in, the mouse should be detected and the drivers should have installed. U should then get a window configuring ur new mouse. This has been well documented by logitech, not sure why you would install it the way u did it originally. Let me know how it goes.
