Most are going to tell you that throwing down that much for an NIC is a complete waste of money and that your onboard LAN performs the same. Any expert knows that the network stack of Windows XP and Vista are not identical. So now the question is: which OS network stack runs faster? is it Windows XP's, Vista's, or Linux's? I've never used Vista yet so I can't tell you if it's better than XP's. Any expert knows that Linux network stack runs faster than the Windows XP network stack and the Killer NIC allows you to do just that when running XP.

I completely agree with jam & as they say .... why pay for a cow when you already get the milk for free - eh?

There have been substantial performance experiments conducted by several entities; all in an effort to even remotely validate the outrageous cost of the LLR gizmo from Bigfoot. Unfortunately, the resounding conclusion was: at best, the card offered inconsequential benefits in nearly all cases & at worst, it's just a $200 network card!
