I am about to purchase a new laptop that will be used mainly for programming but also for gaming, and I was wondering if it is powerful enough to accomodate today's best games on their highest settings. The specs are below.
Dell Latitude D620
Intel Core Duo T2500(2.00 GHz) 667Mhz Dual Core
256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache
2.0GB DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS
100GB Hard Drive

Not even in the neighborhood. You'll have to spend a lot more than that to get even a decent gaming laptop, much less one that will play all of today's games on the highest settings.
Good luck,
-SN

If you want a gaming laptop be prepaird to spend 2,000+.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ OC 2.7ghz
2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200
Nvidia 7900GT
SATA II 2x 200gig 7200rpm 16mb cache RAID-0
Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI

Before asking those questions here, ask yourself, do I actually need a portable laptop? If answer is yes, then you may looking for light laptops, which aren't good for gaming. Vice-versa, where the gaming laptops are perfect for gaming but can be extremely heavy. Think about a 10+lb laptop + 2lb AC Adapter + 1lb battery = 13lb+ in the carrying bag... If you travel alot, then gaming laptop is not a good idea... Otherwise, you should rather spend 1/2 price for a similar desktop rig to match up with the same laptop spec... I don't understand why people even bother to buy a 10+lb laptop for gaming.. It has small keyboard, need a mouse, crappy speaker, average display (in terms of reponse time and brightness), gets hot when under heavy gaming, extremely noisy... etc... Anyways, if you think that laptop is good, then go for it..
