I just got a comp with 60 Gb, 2.80GHz pentium 4 processor, 512MB RAM and an unshared 64MB graphics card. Is this a good set up? and my real question is - what games WON'T i be able to play ?

You can currently play every game out (to my knowledge), but it really depends what is respectable in graphics and frame rates, which is what you have to consider.

Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb
AMD Barton 2800
Asus A7N8X E-Deluxe
512 DDRAM PC2700

What im looking at are games like Command and Conquer Generals, BF1942, rise of nations and dat on da highest specs. Is that what you meant by graphics and frame rates or... *puts on small dunces hat*

FPS (frames per second) is basically how many frames are produced by your graphics card per second. The more frames that are produced (up to 60 frames), the smoother most games will play.
I reckon you card will be alright playing those games in respect of frame rates, but you may have to turn down some settings (i.e. resolution and eye candy) to get smooth frame rates.

Its a balancing act really, sometimes you have to turn down the graphic detail to compensate for frame rates.

But yes, I reckon your card will be alright playing those games, but I don't know about palying them on max specs.

If you want to see your FPS, download Fraps (it shows your fps in game) from:

In reality, the fx5200 will run those games ok, but it's the cheapest card in the Nvidia range, and is therefore bottom-of-the-range. By modern comparisons, it is a slow card and will not offer you good framerates and playability in the future, I think the 64mb 5200 retails at about £30 over here, which isn't a lot for a graphics card. Perhaps consider paying a bit more towards your computer for a higher end card that'll last a while longer.

I'm wondering why the card is listed as AGPx4 too??? It should be AGPx8, unless dell are supplying you with some kind of cheap and nasty prehistoric motherboard in a bid to increase their profit margins??
Or maybe they bought a batch of faulty nvidia cards on the cheap??

AMD Athlon XP2200+
Aero7 lite

Abit NF7-s V2.0
80GB Seagate SATA
120GB Seagate SATA
Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb
Benq FP767-12 17" 12ms
