the video card i ordered requires a min. of 250watts of power and i looked at my psu and it said it had a max. power output of 250watts. its not going to fry my computer is it.

Here try calculating with this:

It will either work, not work (not turn on), or work and turn off in full load times (i.e. playing a game).

None of this will damage your PC though, hopefully :)

Or it will fire mains voltage through your entire system possibly causing a major fire, get a decent psu

Yeah, get a new PSU. 25ow just isn't going to cut it nowadays.

If you only have 250 and the graphics card alone requires 250, then how will you power the hard drive, motherboard, sound card, fans, etc? Sorry be being a smart-a$$, but the answer is obviously No. A new PC with gaming-oriented components is probably going to need 400 - 500+ watts.
