Comment:

I have been thinking about building a custom gaming PC for a while, I have been looking at this deal on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-ATHLON-64-6...

I want to get a barebones kit and build it myself, question is, is this a good deal? it seems like it, you can select if you want certain upgrades on the page, is there a better motherboard on there than the biostar thats default? Should i get an SLI motherboard? I dont want to go much over the current price of 280, but will if necessary. so any advise is greatly appreatiated.

I'm at work & eBay is blocked. Can you post the specs? Why are you buying from eBay anyway?

You didn't include the shipping charge. You'd be paying $305 for a case w/PSU, motherboard & CPU w/HSF. Don't you think you could do as good or better if you bought the parts individually?

The 6000+ (3.0GHz) is a power hungry monster @ 125W. You could get a 65W 5000+ (2.6GHz) & overclock it to 3.0GHz+.

Biostar's been putting out some good boards lately, but the nForce 520 is at the lower end of the nForce 500 series. A board based on the 570 Ultra or 570 SLi chipset would be a better choice....you don't have to use the SLi feature. AMD's been putting out some decent chipsets too.

Then there's the case. I don't see anything listed about the PSU other than it's 400W...more than likely, it's generic crap.

OMG no dont do this...

they screw you!
try newegg.com or something else

remember, if the people on ebay bought it from somewhere, they are looking for a profit!
buy it from the place where they bought it!
