Comment:
Hey guys,
I am planning to get a new computer, a laptop, and I found one that looks nice but I need advice on whether or not it would be powerful enough to run the top games like Oblivion on full settings. The comp is: Acer Aspire AS5102WLMi NoteBook, and the stats are: Operating System: Windows XP Professional CPU Type: AMD Turion64 X2 TL-50(1.6GHz) Screen: 15.4" WXGA Memory Size: 1GB DDR2 Hard Disk: 120GB Optical Drive: DVD Super Multi Graphics Card: ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 IGP Video Memory: shared memory
No way... Not with that Radeon Xpress 1100 (Integrated Graphic Port)... In fact, only machines with Radeon 1900xtx crossfire can run oblivion at full settings without massive lag during outdoors. Your graphic card wont be more powerful than a 6600GT, so I'd say you can probally play it at medium settings @ 800x600...
"Your graphic card wont be more powerful than a 6600GT"
Honestly, even the thought that onboard card can remotely approach a 6600GT in performance is wishful thinking. It is nowhere near what is needed to game on medium settings for many games out today.
You didn't read what I said closely. I said this onboard graphics card isn't even close to the 6600GT, or in other words the 6600GT would beat this onboard graphics card by a wide margin. I wasn't making any negative comments about the 6600GT in the slightest.
However, while on this topic, the 6600GT is already showing its age. Look at the benchmarks for Oblivion above, and it doesn't play FEAR all that well, either. HL2 plays well on a lot of cards, so it shouldn't be how you judge graphics cards anymore. It is in my mind now an entry level card.
