|"We just got off the phone with Nick Knupffer of Intel, who confirmed something that has long been speculated upon: the fate of Larrabee. As of today, the first Larrabee chip’s retail release has been canceled. This means that Intel will not be releasing a Larrabee video card or a Larrabee HPC/GPGPU compute part."|
Just what I expected. Intel just simply can't compete against Nividia and ATI in this segment. As good as Intel is in their cpu segment, their gpu segment is a total diff story. For years you heard "well if Intel really wanted to compete against Nvidia and ATI they could", but the reality is now that they simply can't even when they did try. Intel is finally facing the fact that they simply don't have the competitve resources to keep up with Nvidia and ATI in this segment.
