I installed Windows XP on to my computer recently after six years of Windows 98 SE. Everything is fine except for my keyboard. Every so often the computer will beep a few times and the keyboard will stop responding. So far it has only happened in games, more commonly in First Person Shooters. I never had this problem when I had Windows 98 SE. It is a Microsoft keyboard which makes me wonder why it is not working. What is going on and how can I fix it?

Sounds like it might be one of the Accessability Options getting turned on. If you hold down certain keys for a specified amoutn of time they turn on certain keyboard features for people with disabilities.

Go to Control Panel and select Accessability Options. On the keyboard tab select the settings key for each option and turn off the keyboard shortcut.

I checked the keyboard tab, none of the settings were turned on.
